Sai Sibling Spring Forum ReporT
On March 26th, 2021, Region 5 YA's and the Region 5 SSE wing hosted the first Sai Sibling Forum. Young adults aged 19-24 had a virtual hangout session with SSE group 4 seniors to talk about college life and transitioning into the YA program. To kick off the event, the young adults encouraged the students to share their senior quotes and reminisced about their own senior year memories. The YA's then shared practical tips on how they approached college life. Some of the challenges they addressed were making friends, managing time, handling stress, and reaching out for help. They explained that staying in touch with Sai centers provided them with much-needed support during their college years. The lessons they learned from SSE and Swami's messages helped them navigate their new adult lives. Then, the SSE students asked the YA's general questions about young adulthood and how they can stay engaged in the Sai world while balancing the demands of college life.
Overall, the Spring Forum was a successful first session. Five YA's participated in the planning and execution of the event. They each gained tremendous confidence during this process. 15 SSE 4 students attended the event and formed connections with positive role models within the Sai community. They were able to get a glimpse of the young adult world they will soon enter, and are now better equipped with the advice they received from their Sai Siblings.
The Sai Sibling Forum is a recurring event happening once each spring, fall, summer, and winter. Each session will center around a new topic.
